University Hills operates two veterinary facilities – the main hospital near I-25 and Colorado Blvd. and an out-patient clinic near I-25 and Hampden. The same competent and caring staff serves clients at both locations.

University Hills Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary hospital that is open 7 days a week. We combine medical expertise and state-of-the-art technology with a strong emphasis on client service and education, as well as compassion for the pets we treat and the owners who love them.

University Hills Hampden Animal Clinic offers a quiet, personalized atmosphere and serves the neighborhoods in the area of Monaco and Hampden. Pets that require a more extensive treatment may be transferred from the Clinic to the Hospital. However, wherever your pet receives its care, the same skilled and compassionate care givers will be involved.

At the hospital, we offer the most medically and technologically advanced animal care and treatment available. Our state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities, surgical procedures and treatment options include laser surgery, ultrasound, digital radiology, acupuncture, comprehensive dental care, an onsite laboratory and more.

Whether you seek services at the Hospital or at the Clinic, you will find highly trained and experienced staff members who are dedicated to providing the finest medical care for your pet. An integral part of this process — and one of our primary goals — is helping pet owners learn how to best care for their animal companions. Founded in 1950, UHAH remains privately owned so that we can provide the personal attention and exceptional service that generations of metro Denver pet owners have come to rely on. The trust our clients have placed in us for more than half a century has enabled us to expand our reach by opening the University Hills Animal Hampden Clinic in April 2007.

We treat a wide variety of animals: dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, rodents, reptiles and birds. Because we recognize that your pets may need care outside of weekday business hours, we are open seven days a week with extended nighttime hours (until 8 p.m.) four nights a week.

AAHA Accreditation: The Gold Standard in Veterinary Practice

For more than 50 consecutive years, University Hills Animal Hospital has received the highest level of accreditation awarded to small-animal veterinary practices by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). This achievement has been attained by fewer than 15% of all veterinary hospitals in the United States.

AAHA standards are recognized around the world as the benchmark for quality care in veterinary medicine. These standards cover all aspects of veterinary practice, including anesthesiology, client service, continuing education, exam facilities, housekeeping and maintenance, pain management, record keeping, safety, surgery and more.

UHAH undergoes regular — and rigorous — inspections by the AAHA to ensure compliance and maintain our accreditation. Our AAHA status means you can rest assured that our hospital provides the highest quality in patient care, modern, well-maintained equipment and the most up-to-date procedures.

Special Awards

45th Annual Veterinarian of the Year Award
In September 2006, the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association honored Dr. Ted Cohn with its highest accolade, the 45th Annual Veterinarian of the Year Award. This award is given to celebrate a career of achievement and dedication to the veterinary association, the veterinary profession, and the citizens and animals of Colorado.

 

 

 

 

 

AAHA 50-Year Membership Award - 2006
In 1956, Dr. Carl Tinsman, the founder of University Hills Animal Hospital, enrolled the hospital in the American Animal Hospital Association becoming one of its earliest members.  Today, the hospital is proud to continue to live up to the quality standards demanded by this organization.  In 2006 the hospital received an award for 50 years of membership.
